DELTA TURNS 35 AS OBOREVWORI PROMISES A NEW ERA OF GROWTH AND PROSPERITY

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated residents of the state as Delta marks its 35th anniversary, assuring citizens that the state is entering a new phase of development and greater opportunities.

Delta State was created on August 27, 1991, by the military administration of former Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida, alongside eight other states. The governor described the anniversary as an important milestone, saying the state's journey over the past three and a half decades has been shaped by resilience, unity and the collective efforts of its people.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, Oborevwori commended successive leaders, traditional and religious authorities, civil servants, private-sector operators and other Deltans for their contributions to the growth of the state.

The governor said his administration would continue to build on the achievements of previous governments through policies focused on improving infrastructure, expanding economic opportunities and promoting inclusive governance.

Oborevwori also highlighted ongoing development projects across the state, saying they reflected his administration's commitment to delivering tangible benefits to residents and creating an environment where more people can participate in economic activities.

He urged Deltans at home and abroad to remain united and committed to the development of the state, stressing the importance of peace, cooperation and collective responsibility in achieving sustained progress.

The governor said the anniversary should serve not only as an opportunity to celebrate the achievements recorded since the state's creation but also as a moment to reflect on the work that remains to be done.

Oborevwori expressed optimism about Delta's future, assuring residents that the state was positioned for greater growth and prosperity in the coming years.

He called on citizens to continue supporting initiatives aimed at advancing the state, while emphasising that the development of Delta requires contributions from government, communities, businesses and individuals.

As Delta begins its 36th year, the governor said his administration would remain focused on creating a more prosperous state and building on the foundation laid by previous generations of Deltans.
