Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested three suspected kidnappers who shot their victim in the leg despite already withdrawing ₦2 million from his bank account.

The suspects — identified as Chukwuebuka Nka, Uche Okechukwu, and Somto Chukwuma — allegedly attacked the victim after discovering he did not have more money in his account.

Confirming the incident in a statement, the Command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the case began with a distress call reporting the abduction of a young man from his residence in Ogwashi-Uku.

“Operatives tracked the suspects to a bush in Ogwashi-Uku, where the victim was rescued with a gunshot wound,” Edafe said.

Further investigations led to the arrest of Chukwuebuka Nka and Uche Okechukwu in neighbouring Anambra State, where the victim’s stolen white Toyota Venza was recovered.

Based on their confessions, police raided the gang’s hideout in Agidiase village, Ogwashi-Uku, arresting the third suspect, Somto Chukwuma.

At the hideout, operatives also recovered the gang’s operational vehicle and a network jammer circuit device believed to have been used during the abduction.

Edafe added that the victim is receiving medical attention, while the suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
