Delta Air Lines has announced the deployment of its advanced Airbus A350-900 and A330-900neo aircraft on the Lagos–Atlanta route.

In a statement released on Sunday, the airline revealed that the route will be operated with a combination of A350-900 and A330-900neo aircraft by late November. Starting in early December, Delta will operate all Lagos–Atlanta flights exclusively with the A350-900, its flagship long-haul aircraft.

According to the airline, the upgraded operations will continue throughout the winter season to meet the surge in passenger and cargo demand typically experienced during the holidays.

Mary Gbobaniyi, Delta Air Lines’ Sales Manager for West Africa, said both aircraft represent Delta’s latest generation of widebody jets featuring the airline’s signature four-cabin layout: Delta One® Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Delta Main Cabin.

She explained that each cabin offers enhanced comfort, space, and personalized service, creating a superior travel experience.

“Deploying our A350 and A330-900neo on the Lagos–Atlanta route during the winter season allows us to accommodate growing customer demand while offering a premium experience our travelers will appreciate,” Gbobaniyi said.

She added that the additional seating capacity and expanded cargo capability are vital during this period when families reunite and trade activities increase between Nigeria and the United States.

Gbobaniyi further described the Airbus A350-900 as one of the most advanced aircraft in Delta’s fleet, built for long-haul flights with greater seating capacity, improved lighting, and quieter cabins designed to reduce fatigue on lengthy trips.

She also highlighted the aircraft’s superior fuel efficiency and increased cargo space, which make it ideal for both passengers and freight during one of the busiest travel seasons of the year.

According to the airline, Delta One® passengers can enjoy lie-flat seats, chef-curated meals paired with Taittinger champagne, and Missoni-designed amenity kits. Delta Premium Select offers wider seats with deeper recline and enhanced features, while Delta Comfort+ provides extra legroom, priority boarding, and dedicated overhead storage.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
