Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, has taken a leading role in political consultations and mobilisation efforts in Southern Kaduna ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the objective of strengthening support for President Bola Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani. The engagement has brought together political leaders, government officials, community figures and other influential stakeholders from the region, as efforts intensify to build a stronger political structure ahead of the elections.

Musa, a prominent son of Southern Kaduna and one of the region’s highest-profile figures in the Federal Executive Council, has been at the centre of discussions on how the area can develop a more coordinated political position. The consultations are focused on strengthening unity among stakeholders, improving political cooperation and ensuring that the region is able to maximise opportunities available under both the Federal Government and Kaduna State Government. The initiative is also expected to deepen grassroots participation and encourage greater engagement between political leaders and communities.

Among those involved in the consultations are Kaduna State Deputy Governor Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, who represents Kaduna South Senatorial District, as well as other political office holders, traditional leaders and community stakeholders. Participants have stressed the importance of putting the interests and development of Southern Kaduna above individual political ambitions, while also seeking a common position on issues of representation, security, infrastructure and economic opportunities ahead of the 2027 elections.

The mobilisation comes as political activities gradually increase across Kaduna State, with different groups and political actors already beginning to build structures ahead of the elections. Supporters of Tinubu and Uba Sani have argued that continued cooperation with the federal and state administrations could provide Southern Kaduna with greater access to government programmes and development opportunities. Other political groups, however, are also seeking to win support in the region, making Southern Kaduna an important political battleground because of its population and voting strength.

The ongoing engagement is expected to continue in the months leading to the 2027 elections, with stakeholders working to strengthen grassroots structures and maintain political unity across the region. Musa's involvement has attracted particular attention because of his national position as Defence Minister and his roots in Southern Kaduna. While the mobilisation is primarily political, participants have also emphasised the need for peace, development and stronger cooperation among communities, arguing that a united region would be better positioned to pursue its interests and influence political outcomes in both Kaduna State and the wider country.
