Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has taken to social media to set the record straight after rumours surfaced online claiming she is living with HIV.

The speculation began when a content creator, Olaoluwa Segun, released a video naming Amusa among five Nigerian actors allegedly infected with the virus.

In response, Amusa posted proof of her HIV-negative status on her Instagram page on Tuesday, making it clear that the claims were false.

The actress reminded her followers that this was not the first time she has spoken publicly on the matter. Back in 2019, she had shared her HIV test result as part of a campaign to raise awareness and encourage people to know their status. She explained that the campaign was never an admission of being infected, but a move to break stigma and promote health consciousness.

Calling out Segun’s video as defamatory and misleading, Amusa revealed that she is considering legal action against the content creator.

Beyond defending herself, the actress used the moment to encourage Nigerians to prioritize HIV testing as part of their health routine.

“I still feel the need to encourage individuals to get tested and know their HIV status. It is better to know your status so that you can guide yourself and save others too,” she wrote in her caption.

Her openness has sparked conversations online, with many fans praising her for turning the controversy into a message of awareness and responsibility.
