DAVIDO, WIZKID, BURNA BOY DOMINATE 2026 HEADIES NOMINATION LIST

Nigerian music heavyweights Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy are among the biggest names competing for honours at the 18th Headies Awards after organisers unveiled the nominees for the 2026 edition. The three artistes secured multiple nominations across some of the ceremony’s major categories.

Davido earned several nominations for his collaboration with Omah Lay on “With You.” The song is in contention for Song of the Year, Afrobeats Single of the Year, Best Recording of the Year, Best Headies Collaboration and Viewers’ Choice.

Wizkid also featured prominently on the nomination list. His song “MMS,” featuring Asake, received a Song of the Year nomination, while “Jogodo” earned recognition in the Afrobeats Single of the Year category. His album Morayo was also nominated for Afrobeats Album of the Year, while the singer received additional nominations for Digital Artiste of the Year, Best Male Artiste and Viewers’ Choice.

Burna Boy, another leading figure in the Nigerian music scene, was nominated for Afrobeats Single of the Year with “Bundle by Bundle.” His album No Sign of Weakness is also competing for Afrobeats Album of the Year, while the singer is nominated for Best Male Artiste. “Bundle by Bundle” further received a nomination in the Music Video of the Year category.

The 2026 nominations also spotlight a new generation of Nigerian artistes. Fido, Fola, Llona, Mavo and Shoday are among the artistes nominated in the Next Rated category, highlighting the growing competition between established stars and emerging acts in the Nigerian music industry.

The 18th Headies Awards is scheduled to hold in Canada, bringing together leading artistes and other personalities in the Nigerian and African music industry. The ceremony is expected to celebrate outstanding musical achievements while placing established stars and emerging talents in contention for some of the country's most recognised music awards.
