DAVIDO REMEMBERS LATE SON IFEANYI, THREE YEARS AFTER TRAGIC DEATH
Nigerian music superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has once again remembered his late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, three years after the tragic incident that took his life.
Taking to 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Davido shared a short but emotional message:
“Ifeanyi David Adedeji Adeleke RIP LEGEND !!”
Ifeanyi passed away on October 31, 2022, after he reportedly drowned in a swimming pool at the family’s home in Banana Island, Lagos — just days after celebrating his third birthday on October 20.
The heartbreaking event led to a police investigation, during which eight domestic workers were detained. Six were released after questioning, while two were held back for further investigation. An autopsy confirmed drowning as the cause of death.
The tragedy deeply affected the singer and his wife, Chioma, who both took a break from the public eye for several months. Davido eventually made a comeback in 2023 with the release of his critically acclaimed album, “Timeless.” He revealed that he deliberately left out a tribute to his son from the album to maintain its uplifting and positive tone.
In October 2023, on the first anniversary of Ifeanyi’s death, Davido once again paid quiet tribute by posting a simple dove emoji, a symbol of peace and remembrance.
Since then, the couple has experienced a new chapter of joy with the birth of their twins in the United States in 2023.
As fans continue to stand with the singer and his family, Davido’s tribute this year serves as a reminder that while time may pass, the memory of a loved one never fades.
