DAVIDO, BURNA BOY, AYRA STARR, WIZKID AMONG NIGERIANS NOMINATED FOR 2026 GRAMMY AWARDS
The 2026 Grammy Award nominations have been announced, with several Nigerian artistes making a strong showing on the global stage.
Top names like Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Omah Lay, and Wizkid earned nominations in the Best African Music Performance category.
Davido featuring Omah Lay scored a nod for their hit song “With You.”
Burna Boy was nominated for “Love” and also received a nod in the Best Global Music Album category for “No Sign of Weakness.”
Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid was recognized for “Gimme Dat.”
Other contenders in the Best African Music Performance category include Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo & Mehran Matin for “Hope & Love” and South Africa’s Tyla for “Push 2 Start.”
In the Best Global Music Album category, Burna Boy will compete against international heavyweights including Senegalese legend Youssou N’Dour, Beninese icon Angélique Kidjo, and India’s Anoushka Shankar.
The 68th Annual Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, celebrating recordings released between August 31, 2024, and August 30, 2025.
This year also introduces two new Grammy categories: Best Traditional Country Album and Best Album Cover, expanding the recognition of global music creativity.
The nominations reflect Nigeria’s growing influence in global music, particularly in Afrobeat and contemporary African pop, solidifying the country’s position as a powerhouse in the international music scene.
