DAVID GEFFEN’S ESTRANGED HUSBAND SAYS $50K MONTHLY SUPPORT ISN’T ENOUGH

David Armstrong, also known as Donovan Michaels, is pushing back against a spousal support offer from billionaire media mogul David Geffen, arguing that $50,000 per month does not reflect the lavish lifestyle they shared during their marriage.

In court filings on Thursday, Armstrong claimed that Geffen spent over $3 million per month on living expenses during their union and that he should be entitled to continue living at a comparable standard. He also opposed Geffen’s request for support to last only a few months, citing the billionaire’s estimated $8.9 billion fortune and active business involvement as a venture capitalist and investor.

Armstrong’s filings further reference alleged physical, emotional, and psychological harm, claiming Geffen “solicited Donovan when he was a vulnerable young foster care graduate.” These claims have not yet been litigated.

Geffen’s legal team, led by attorney Laura Wasser, countered that the billionaire has already paid $400,000 since their separation and provides Armstrong with a rent-free New York City apartment valued at $15,000 per month. They described Armstrong’s actions as an attempt to delay the divorce proceedings, while emphasizing that Geffen is working toward a settlement.

The couple, whose marriage lasted less than two years, has attracted public attention partly because there was no prenuptial agreement. Geffen filed for divorce in August, while Armstrong previously filed a civil suit in May, which he withdrew last month. Remaining financial disputes are expected to be addressed through mediation.
