DAVID BECKHAM BECOMES UK’S FIRST BILLIONAIRE SPORTSMAN IN NEW RICH LIST RANKING
Former England captain David Beckham has officially been named the United Kingdom’s first billionaire sportsman, according to the latest Sunday Times Rich List, which valued his combined fortune with wife Victoria Beckham at £1.185 billion.
The milestone places the couple among the wealthiest sporting-related figures in Britain, highlighting the continued growth of their business and brand empire long after Beckham’s retirement from professional football.
Beckham Family Wealth and Business Empire
The report shows that Beckham’s wealth has been boosted significantly by his ownership stake in Major League Soccer club Inter Miami CF, widely regarded as one of the most valuable franchises in the league, estimated at around $1.45 billion.
Beyond football, Beckham continues to earn from long-term endorsement deals and global ambassador roles with major brands such as Adidas and Hugo Boss.
Victoria Beckham also contributes significantly to the family fortune through her fashion label, which has grown into a major luxury brand since her transition from pop music stardom with the Spice Girls.
Britain’s Richest Sporting Figures
In the broader ranking, the Ecclestone family, linked to former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone, remains the wealthiest sporting-related household in the UK with an estimated £2 billion fortune.
Golfer Rory McIlroy ranks seventh with £325 million, while businessman and Manchester United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe dropped to ninth position after a reported fall in wealth to £15.194 billion.
Promoters Barry Hearn and Eddie Hearn also entered the billionaire category, with a combined fortune of £1.035 billion through Matchroom Sport.
Top Athletes on the Rich List
Among active and retired athletes, seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton ranks fifth with £435 million.
Boxer Anthony Joshua follows in eighth place with £240 million, just ahead of Tyson Fury, whose wealth is estimated at £162 million.
England captain Harry Kane and tennis legend Andy Murray share 10th position, each with an estimated net worth of £110 million.
The ranking further underscores the growing commercial value of modern sport, where business ventures, endorsements, and ownership stakes now rival on-field earnings.
