German referee Daniel Siebert has been selected by UEFA to oversee the 2026 UEFA Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal on May 30.

The highly anticipated showdown will take place at Puskás Aréna, where Siebert is set to officiate his first-ever UEFA club final after years of experience on the international stage.

Now 42, the German official has become one of Europe’s most trusted referees and has handled nine Champions League matches during the current campaign.

Among his notable appointments were Arsenal’s quarter-final encounter with Sporting CP, their semi-final battle against Atlético Madrid, and PSG’s tense quarter-final clash against Liverpool.

Siebert’s latest assignment marks another major milestone in a career that has steadily progressed since he earned FIFA referee status in 2015.

Over the years, he has built an impressive résumé that includes appearances at both UEFA Euro 2020 and UEFA Euro 2024.

For the final in Budapest, Siebert will work alongside assistant referees Jan Seidel and Rafael Foltyn, while Bastian Dankert will head the VAR team, completing an all-German officiating lineup.

UEFA’s decision reflects confidence in Siebert’s ability to manage one of football’s biggest occasions, with both PSG and Arsenal aiming to lift Europe’s most prestigious club trophy in what is expected to be an intense and fiercely contested final.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
