DANGOTE REFINERY SLASHES PETROL GANTRY PRICE BY N75/LITRE

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced its ex-depot (gantry) price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) by N75 per litre, bringing relief to marketers and consumers across Nigeria’s downstream oil market.

The new price adjustment reportedly lowers the rate from about N1,250 per litre to N1,175 per litre, marking another shift in the refinery’s pricing structure amid changes in global crude oil trends.

Industry sources say the decision is linked to recent movements in international oil prices, as well as efforts to stabilize supply and maintain competitiveness in the domestic fuel market.

The refinery, which began full-scale operations recently, has continued to adjust its pricing model in response to global energy dynamics and local market conditions.

Marketers are expected to respond to the latest reduction by reviewing pump prices, although the extent of any immediate change at filling stations remains uncertain.

Energy analysts say the price cut could intensify competition among fuel suppliers and potentially lead to further downward pressure on retail petrol prices in the coming days.

However, they also caution that exchange rate fluctuations and logistics costs may still influence final pump prices paid by consumers.

The development is seen as part of broader efforts to stabilise Nigeria’s deregulated downstream petroleum sector and reduce volatility in fuel pricing.

Stakeholders have welcomed the move, describing it as a positive signal for market responsiveness and consumer relief.

Further adjustments are expected as the refinery continues to align its pricing with global crude oil movements and domestic demand patterns.
