DANGOTE REFINERY PRICE HIKE PUSHES PETROL PUMP PRICES HIGHER NATIONWIDE

Petrol prices have risen nationwide at MRS filling stations following an increase in gantry prices by the Dangote Refinery.

MRS outlets in Abuja have adjusted their pump price to N1,267 per litre, up from N1,167, reflecting a N100 increase per litre. This adjustment mirrors the recent hike in gantry price by the Dangote Refinery to N1,175 per litre.

A manager at an MRS station, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the price increase was directly linked to the refinery’s upward review of its gantry price.

Similarly, Optima Filling Station has raised its petrol price by N50, from N1,220 to N1,270 per litre, in response to the same development.

Meanwhile, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) retail outlets are currently selling petrol at N1,261 per litre, slightly lower than the prices at MRS and Optima stations.

Other filling stations, including AA Rano, NIPCO, Eterna, Mobil, Empire Energy, and Raniol, are dispensing petrol within the range of N1,270 to N1,330 per litre across Abuja and surrounding areas.

The rise in fuel prices comes amid ongoing volatility in global crude oil markets, driven by escalating tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel since late February 2026. As of Tuesday morning, Brent crude was priced at $97.39 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate stood at $103.70 per barrel.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
