DANGOTE REFINERY GETS $1BN BACKING AHEAD OF PLANNED IPO
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has secured $1 billion in financial backing as it prepares for a planned Initial Public Offering, commonly known as an IPO.
The funding support includes a $600 million private placement that has already been completed and funded, along with another $400 million underwriting commitment for the planned IPO.
The deal was structured by Marob Strategies and Consulting DIFC Ltd and Lilium Capital Group. The companies are also working to attract more institutional investors, governments, sovereign wealth funds and other eligible investors.
The development is important because the planned IPO could allow more investors to own a stake in one of Africa’s biggest industrial projects.
The Dangote Refinery, located in Lagos, has a production capacity of 650,000 barrels per day and produces products such as petrol, diesel and aviation fuel.
Dangote Group President and Chief Executive Officer, Aliko Dangote, described the latest funding as an important milestone for the refinery and Africa’s capital markets.
The refinery has been attracting strong investor interest as the company prepares for its next stage of growth. The planned public listing could also give investors an opportunity to participate in the future of Nigeria’s energy industry.
