DANGOTE REFINERY COMPLETES $2.5BN EQUITY PLACEMENT
Dangote Refinery has successfully completed a $2.5 billion equity placement, marking a significant milestone in its quest to achieve full operational capacity and financial stability.
The announcement was made on Thursday by the company’s management, describing the equity raise as a strong vote of confidence by international and local investors in Africa’s largest single-train refinery.
The fresh capital is expected to support the completion of remaining infrastructure, working capital, and expansion initiatives at the $20 billion facility located in Lekki, Lagos.
Dangote Refinery spokesperson said the successful placement reflects strong market belief in the project’s long-term viability and its strategic importance to Nigeria’s energy security and economic independence.
“This equity infusion will accelerate our drive towards full production and help reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products,” the statement read.
Industry analysts view the development as a major boost for the refinery, which has faced teething challenges since commencing operations.
The move is expected to strengthen Dangote Group’s position as a key player in Africa’s energy sector.
