DANGOTE, IMPORTERS BATTLE AS PETROL HOLDS ABOVE N1,000

Tensions continue to rise between Dangote Refinery and petroleum product importers as the price of petrol remains stubbornly above N1,000 per litre despite increased local refining capacity.

Importers have accused the refinery of failing to meet domestic demand adequately, forcing reliance on expensive imports. Dangote officials, however, insist that the plant is operating at optimal levels and that market dynamics, including distribution costs and forex challenges, are responsible for the high pump prices.

The situation has sparked intense debate among stakeholders, with calls for greater transparency in pricing and supply mechanisms. Energy analysts suggest that full integration of the refinery’s output into the domestic market could help ease pressure on prices in the long term.

The Federal Government has urged both parties to collaborate for the benefit of Nigerian consumers.
