DANGOTE DEPLOYS REAL-TIME SYSTEM TO MONITOR TRUCK DRIVERS

Dangote Transport has introduced a Driver Monitoring Control Room at its operational base in Ibese, Ogun State, as part of efforts to improve road safety and monitor driver behaviour across its nationwide fleet.

The system allows transport control personnel to monitor drivers and truck activities in real time, enabling the company to identify risky behaviour and intervene while journeys are still ongoing.

According to Dangote Transport’s Head of Operations, David Idiege, the initiative forms part of the company’s wider safety strategy aimed at reducing road accidents and improving operational efficiency.

The company said its safety measures also include speed limiters, vehicle immobilisers, facial recognition systems, mandatory drug and alcohol testing, compulsory rest periods, driver recertification, and regular training.

The monitoring system uses onboard cameras installed across thousands of Dangote trucks, providing live feeds and alerts to the control centre. Officials said the technology is intended to support drivers and prevent accidents rather than simply punish unsafe behaviour.

Dangote Transport said the new control room represents another step in its efforts to strengthen fleet management, protect drivers and other road users, and promote safer road transportation across Nigeria.
