CZECH EMBASSY WARNS NIGERIANS AGAINST FALSE 2027 SCHOLARSHIP CLAIMS

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Nigeria has warned prospective Nigerian students against relying on online reports claiming that they are eligible to apply for the Czech Government Scholarship programme for the 2027/2028 academic year.

The embassy issued the clarification after information circulated online listing Nigeria among the countries eligible for the scholarship programme. According to the diplomatic mission, the claims are inaccurate and should be disregarded.

In a statement issued on Monday, the embassy confirmed that Nigeria is not among the countries eligible for the Czech Government Scholarship for the 2027/2028 academic year.

The mission said it had noticed online publications containing details on the scholarship and instructions for Nigerian applicants, but stressed that such information did not reflect the official eligibility requirements for the upcoming academic session.

The embassy acknowledged the strong interest among Nigerian students in pursuing higher education in the Czech Republic, but said the government-funded scholarship would not be available to Nigerian applicants during the 2027/2028 academic year.

It therefore urged prospective students to exercise caution and avoid acting on information from unofficial websites that list Nigeria as an eligible country.

The warning is particularly important for students who may be preparing application documents or paying third parties for assistance based on the circulating information.

Rather than relying on scholarship blogs, social media posts or other unofficial platforms, the embassy advised applicants to obtain information directly from the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the Dům zahraniční spolupráce, the Czech agency responsible for international education and research cooperation.

The official position from the embassy is intended to prevent prospective applicants from being misled by inaccurate scholarship information and potentially losing money or time pursuing an opportunity for which they are not eligible.

The Czech diplomatic mission thanked Nigerian students for their understanding and wished them success in finding legitimate opportunities to further their education.

The clarification also serves as a reminder to prospective international students to verify scholarship eligibility through official government or embassy channels before beginning an application or making any financial commitment.
