The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Nigeria has debunked reports circulating online claiming that Nigerian students are eligible for the Czech Government Scholarship programme for the 2027/2028 academic year.

In a statement on Monday, the embassy clarified that Nigeria is not among the countries eligible for the scholarship programme for the 2027/2028 academic year.

The clarification followed the spread of information on unofficial websites suggesting that Nigerian students could apply.

The embassy urged prospective applicants to disregard such claims, stressing that the information was inaccurate.

“We know that many Nigerian students are interested in studying in the Czech Republic, and we understand that this may be disappointing news,” the embassy said.

It explained that the Czech Government Scholarship would not be available to Nigerian applicants for the 2027/2028 academic year.

The embassy advised students seeking reliable information about scholarship and study opportunities to consult the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the Dům zahraniční spolupráce.

It also warned prospective applicants against relying on unofficial websites that list Nigeria among the eligible countries.

The clarification is intended to prevent Nigerian students from making applications or preparations based on false eligibility information.

The embassy thanked Nigerian students for their understanding and wished prospective applicants success in their academic pursuits.
