CUSTOMS SEIZES ₦809.6 MILLION WORTH OF EXPIRED VAPES IN LAGOS

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted a consignment of expired vape products valued at ₦809.6 million in Lagos, preventing the products from entering the local market.

Customs officials said the seizure was made during routine enforcement operations aimed at curbing the importation of prohibited, expired, and potentially harmful products into the country.

According to the service, the interception reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen border security, protect public health, and enforce Nigeria's import regulations.

The NCS warned importers against attempting to smuggle expired or non-compliant products into the country, stressing that offenders risk prosecution and forfeiture of seized goods.

Public health experts welcomed the seizure, noting that expired vaping products may pose health risks to consumers and underscoring the importance of strict regulatory oversight on imported products.

The Customs Service reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with relevant regulatory agencies to prevent the circulation of unsafe goods and safeguard the health and safety of Nigerians.
