CUSTOMS PREPARES TRAINERS FOR 2026 RECRUITMENT PROGRAMME
The Nigeria Customs Service has begun preparations for its 2026 basic training programme for newly recruited personnel by bringing together trainers from different disciplines.
The service held a training retreat in Lagos on Wednesday for personnel responsible for areas including drills, medical services, security, sports and other aspects of the recruitment programme. (punchng.com)
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, said the initiative was designed to improve coordination among the trainers before the commencement of the basic training programme.
He explained that trainers previously operated in separate segments, which could lead to delays and coordination challenges.
According to him, bringing the various trainers together under one platform would enable them to work towards common objectives and achieve more consistent results.
The approach is also expected to improve communication among personnel involved in the training process.
Adeniyi said the exercise was part of innovations being introduced by the service to improve its training system.
The retreat brought together personnel from different training areas to align their activities and prepare for the arrival of new recruits.
The Customs Service said the coordinated approach would help create a more structured training programme for personnel joining the service in 2026.
The exercise forms part of preparations for the service’s next phase of recruitment and basic training.
