CUSTOMS BEGINS SCREENING FOR 3,852 RECRUITS

The Nigeria Customs Service has commenced the physical screening and documentation of 3,852 successful candidates selected from its 2024/2025 recruitment exercise.

The exercise is being held at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College in Gwagwalada, Abuja, marking the final stage of the recruitment process.

The recruitment exercise attracted 573,680 applications, but only 3,852 candidates were selected, giving a success rate of about 0.67 per cent. This means roughly one out of every 148 applicants was successful.

According to the Service, the shortlisted candidates are required to appear with the original and photocopies of their relevant documents for verification.

The documents include their National Identification Number, birth certificate or declaration of age, educational certificates, certificate of state of origin, two recent passport photographs and completed guarantor’s forms.

Candidates who have an applicable NYSC certificate are also expected to present it during the exercise.

The Customs Service instructed candidates to attend on the dates assigned to their respective states and cadres, stressing that participation in the screening is compulsory.

It also directed candidates to appear in a white T-shirt, shorts and canvas shoes for the physical screening.

The recruitment process, which began in December 2024, has taken longer than initially expected due to the large number of applications and extensive verification procedures.

Customs management had earlier announced the final list of successful candidates after several stages of screening, including application checks and verification.

The Service has also announced plans to move to an annual recruitment cycle, which it said would help improve manpower planning and provide more regular opportunities for qualified Nigerians to join the organisation.

The successful candidates will proceed through the remaining stages of the process after the physical screening and documentation exercise.
