Tension gripped parts of Ibadan in Oyo on Thursday as residents gathered following the reported abduction of the sister of former Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, and her twin children.

Eyewitnesses said the incident sparked panic in the area, with community members trooping out to express concern and demand urgent action from security agencies.

The victims were reportedly abducted by armed men in a yet-to-be-fully-confirmed attack, prompting a swift response from police operatives who have since launched a manhunt for the suspects.

Security officials confirmed that investigations are ongoing, while efforts are being intensified to locate and rescue the victims safely.

The incident has further heightened concerns over rising kidnapping cases in parts of Nigeria, especially in urban and semi-urban communities.

Authorities have appealed for calm, urging residents to provide credible information that could assist ongoing rescue operations and help track down the perpetrators.

Police say additional deployments have been made to strategic locations to prevent further escalation and reassure residents.
