C’RIVER TEENAGER ARRESTED OVER ALLEGED STABBING OF 20-YEAR-OLD
The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a 16-year-old boy for allegedly stabbing a 20-year-old man, Uwem Daniel Akpan, to death in Awi community, Akamkpa Local Government Area.
The incident reportedly occurred around 7:30pm on August 31, 2026, following a misunderstanding at Peters Street in the community.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, said the victim was rushed to the Naval Reference Hospital in Calabar, where he was confirmed dead. His remains were later recovered by family members.
The police said the teenager was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody as investigations continue.
The case is being processed for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Calabar for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
Eitokpah urged the public to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands, assuring that the circumstances surrounding the death would be thoroughly investigated.
