COURT STOPS LAGOS POLICE COMMISSIONER FROM DECLARING SOWORE WANTED
A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has restrained the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, from declaring former presidential candidate and activist, Omoyele Sowore, wanted.
Sowore made the announcement on his 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, shortly after the court ruling.
In his post, the Sahara Reporters publisher described the Lagos police chief as “incompetent,” adding that the ruling was a victory against what he called political harassment.
“I just left the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, where the court restrained the incompetent CP of @policeng Lagos Command, Moshood Jimoh, from declaring Omoyele Sowore WANTED,” he wrote.
The activist’s statement comes amid ongoing legal tensions between him and the Nigeria Police Force, which he has repeatedly accused of unlawful intimidation and political persecution.
As of press time, the Lagos State Police Command had yet to issue an official response to the court’s decision.
