Scott Iguma Granted Bail Days After Arrest Over PWAN Defamation Case

Popular media personality and influencer, Scott Iguma, has been granted bail by a Lagos State High Court following his recent arrest in a defamation case involving real estate company, PWAN.

Scott was remanded in prison on Friday after being arrested last Thursday over allegations made against PWAN and its founder, Augustine Onwumere. The influencer had accused the company of scamming customers by issuing fake receipts instead of actual land ownership documents. He submitted over 130 petitions from alleged victims to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The arrest quickly sparked outrage online, with celebrities and influencers like Tunde Ednut, VeryDarkMan, Stanley Ontop, and singer Kokopee speaking out in Scott’s defense, accusing PWAN and the police of trying to silence him.

However, in a video shared by Kokopee on Monday, he announced that the court had granted Scott bail.
“His legal team is working hard to meet the bail conditions,” he said.
“One thing I must tell Nigerians is that we cannot be silent when oppression is around the corner. Injustice for one is injustice for all.”

Kokopee also called out PWAN, urging the company to provide proof of its innocence rather than resorting to arrests.

As the legal process continues, the case has sparked renewed conversations around corporate accountability, whistleblowing, and freedom of speech in Nigeria. Many Nigerians are now watching closely to see how the case unfolds.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
