COURT ARRAIGNS THREE OVER ABDUCTION, MURDER OF 22-YEAR-OLD PLATEAU STUDENT
South African police on Monday, February 16, arraigned three suspects before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court over the kidnapping and murder of 22-year-old Plateau State student, Isaac Satlat, whose body was found on February 11.
Satlat, who worked as an e-hailing driver, was reportedly abducted and killed by passengers who had requested his service. His body and the stolen vehicle were later discovered in Atteridgeville, in Pretoria’s Moshongo Province.
Confirming the development, spokesperson for the South African National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Mumka Mahanja, said the suspects—Dikeledi Tears Phela, Gositsiane Machidi, and McClaren Mushwana—made a brief court appearance on Monday morning. They were remanded in custody as the case was adjourned to February 23, 2026.
Mahanja stated that the trio faces charges of murder and carjacking. They are being held at the SAPS Pretoria North Police Station, while the female suspect, Phela, is detained at the Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre.
She added that the accused persons withdrew their bail application during the court session.
“The three accused appeared before the court this morning on charges of premeditated murder and related offences. They abandoned their bail application, and the matter was postponed to February 23 for further investigations,” Mahanja said.
