COOKING GAS PRICES EXPECTED TO FALL FURTHER IN NIGERIA – MARKETERS
The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), commonly known as cooking gas, is expected to decline further in Nigeria, according to Olatunbosun Oladapo, the immediate past president of the Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers.
Oladapo, speaking to DAILY POST on Monday, attributed the recent drop in prices to the easing of nationwide supply glitches, which has improved the availability of the product.
In Abuja, retailers are now selling LPG at about ₦1,500 per kilogram, down from ₦2,000 a few weeks ago. Companies such as NIPCO, AA Rano, and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (Ranoil) have adjusted prices to between ₦1,090 and ₦1,100 per litre, compared to ₦1,200 previously.
Oladapo expressed optimism that prices will continue to fall in the coming days, especially with the festive season approaching, emphasizing the importance of ensuring sufficient supply for consumers.
“We still want the price of gas to come down further. Let’s see how the price goes in one or two weeks,” he said.
With the recent improvements in supply, Nigerians can expect more affordable cooking gas just in time for the holiday season.
