The price of cooking gas (LPG) in Nigeria is expected to decline further in the coming days, according to Olatunbosun Oladapo, the immediate past president of the Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers.

Speaking in an interview with DAILY POST on Monday, Oladapo attributed the recent price drops to the easing of supply glitches nationwide, which have improved the availability of the product.

In Abuja, retailers are now selling LPG at around ₦1,500 per kilogram, down from ₦2,000 in recent weeks. Companies like NIPCO, AA Rano, and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (Ranoil) have reduced prices to between ₦1,090 and ₦1,100 per litre, compared to ₦1,200 previously.

Oladapo expressed optimism about further reductions, noting the approaching festive season and emphasizing the importance of ensuring ample supply for consumers.

“We still want the price of gas to come down further. Let’s see how the price goes in one or two weeks,” he said.

With supply stabilizing, Nigerians can expect more affordable cooking gas just in time for the holiday season.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
