The Concert for Change Foundation has set a N500m fundraising target to support vulnerable children and charities providing services to children living with disabilities across Nigeria.

The foundation announced the target ahead of its Green Worship 9.0 benefit concert, scheduled for October 10 at the MUSON Centre in Lagos.

Founder and Managing Trustee, Wale Adenuga, said the foundation had raised and distributed N210m since its establishment in 2006, supporting 49 charities and reaching more than 8,000 children.

Six charities are expected to benefit from this year’s fundraising campaign. Their needs include specialised education, rehabilitation, transportation, infrastructure and assistive devices.

The beneficiary organisations include OAKonsult Disabilities Outreach in Ogbomosho, Lokola School for the Deaf and Special Needs, Excellent Child Support Initiative in Ikorodu, Festus Fajemilo Foundation in Abule Egba, AIM Special Children Centre in Kaduna and Irede Foundation in Lagos.

The foundation said contributions would support programmes aimed at improving education, healthcare and community inclusion for children with special needs.

Organisers are seeking support from individuals, businesses, churches and civic groups.

Fundraising will continue after the concert through a 21 Days of Giving campaign scheduled to begin on October 11.
