Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator Broda Shaggy, whose real name is Samuel Perry, has been hospitalised after reportedly sustaining a gunshot injury while filming a comedy skit in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.

The incident is said to have occurred on Sunday afternoon under the Sango-Ota bridge, where the entertainer was shooting content with members of his crew. Details surrounding how the shooting happened remain unclear, but a police source who spoke on condition of anonymity told reporters that Broda Shaggy was struck by gunfire during the recording session.

Crew members at the scene quickly rushed him to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos State, where he received initial medical attention following the injury. Medical personnel reportedly administered first aid upon his arrival.

Broda Shaggy was later transferred to Duchess Hospital in the Government Residential Area of Ikeja, Lagos, where he is currently recuperating, according to available reports.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that the hospital alerted authorities after receiving a gunshot victim. Police detectives and patrol officers were reportedly dispatched to the facility and identified the injured man as a well‑known skit maker and social media influencer. The police noted that the reported location of the incident — Sango‑Ota — falls outside their jurisdiction, but that an investigation is underway to determine what happened.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command said it had no official record of the incident being reported to its command, adding that the matter had not been formally brought to its attention.
