COLLECTING TRANSPORT FARE WITHOUT VISITING IS FRAUD, SAYS RIVERS POLICE PRO
The spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, has issued a strong warning to women, saying it is a punishable offence to collect transport fare from a man and fail to visit him.
In a video currently trending on social media, the police PRO described the act as fraud, stressing that it falls under “obtaining money under false pretence,” popularly known as 419.
“Why will you collect transport fare from a man without going to see him? It’s a punishable offence. It is obtaining money under false pretences. 419,” she said.
Her statement has since sparked mixed reactions online. While many men applauded her for speaking out against the practice, others argued that the message could have been delivered differently.
The video has also reignited conversations around honesty in relationships, online dating, and the legal consequences of financial deceit.
