CJN APPROVES AKWA IBOM AS HOST OF 2025 JUDICIARY SPORTS GAMES
The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Honourable Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has approved Akwa Ibom State to host the 2025 edition of the annual Judiciary Sports Competition, also known as the CJN Games, scheduled to hold in Uyo.
In a meeting with members of the National Sports Association for Judiciary in her Abuja chambers, Justice Kekere-Ekun emphasized the need for proper conduct throughout the tournament, warning against any behavior that could bring the judiciary into disrepute.
She encouraged participants to uphold the core values of sports, including cooperation, discipline, adherence to rules, and camaraderie. Justice Kekere-Ekun also urged representatives of the judiciary to maintain orderly conduct and embrace sportsmanship at all times.
The CJN highlighted the importance of accountability, reminding members to ensure proper management of resources provided for organizing the tournament. She also advised the male-dominated leadership of the Association to adopt a gender-sensitive approach, humorously warning that approval for future editions could be withheld if women are not included in executive positions.
Earlier, the National President of the Association, Mr. Noah Sunday, commended the CJN for approving this year’s tournament. He assured that participants would uphold the reputation of the judiciary and confirmed that Akwa Ibom State is prepared to host the games.
Mr. Tobi Soniyi, Senior Special Assistant to the CJN on Media, stated that highlights of the visit included the unveiling and presentation of the tournament trophy and sports kits to the Chief Justice.
