The newly elected President of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS), Mr. Oluwole Oduyemi, has unveiled a comprehensive reform agenda aimed at strengthening the institute’s role in professionalising the capital market and enhancing member services.

Speaking at his inauguration in Lagos, Oduyemi outlined key priorities including digital transformation of institute operations, continuous professional development programmes, stronger advocacy for market-friendly policies, and greater collaboration with regulators and stakeholders. “We must position CIS as a leading voice in shaping the future of Nigeria’s capital market,” he said.

The reform agenda also focuses on expanding membership, promoting ethical standards, and supporting initiatives to deepen market liquidity and attract more retail investors. Oduyemi emphasised the need for stockbrokers to adapt to evolving technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain in trading and investment advisory.

Industry stakeholders have welcomed the vision, describing it as timely amid ongoing efforts to revitalise the Nigerian capital market. The CIS president pledged transparent leadership and measurable outcomes within his tenure.

The agenda aligns with broader regulatory pushes for a more efficient, transparent, and inclusive financial ecosystem in Nigeria.
