The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria has urged human resources professionals to translate lessons from its annual conference into measurable improvements in workplace performance.

CIPM President and Chairman of its Governing Council, Ahmed Gobir, gave the charge at the close of the institute’s 58th International Conference and Exhibition in Abuja.

The four-day event, held under the theme “Repositioning for Value and Impact,” attracted more than 4,000 physical delegates and over 1,000 virtual participants from Nigeria and other countries.

Discussions focused on artificial intelligence, workforce productivity, leadership, public-sector transformation, organisational performance, governance and human capability.

Gobir said the value of the conference would ultimately depend on how participants applied what they had learnt in their organisations.

The institute said the discussions reflected the changing role of HR from an administrative function to a more strategic position in improving productivity, developing workforce capabilities and supporting organisational performance.

CIPM also highlighted its partnerships with international professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, the Society for Human Resource Management and the World Federation of People Management Associations.

The institute said these partnerships would help strengthen the competitiveness of Nigerian HR professionals as workplace practices continue to evolve.
