The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) has reaffirmed its commitment to strategic partnerships with the Lagos State Government and other stakeholders to promote banking innovation and support economic growth.

The commitment was reiterated during a meeting between the CIBN leadership and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, where both sides discussed opportunities for collaboration in the financial sector.

The discussions focused on initiatives that could support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises through capacity development, financial inclusion, and improved access to finance.

CIBN President, Dr Ken Opara, also advocated the establishment of MSME hubs in strategic locations across the country, describing small and medium-sized businesses as important drivers of economic growth.

According to the institute, such hubs could provide entrepreneurs with access to training, business support, finance, and other resources needed to develop sustainable enterprises.

Governor Sanwo-Olu described the meeting as a reaffirmation of the strong relationship between Lagos State and the banking profession, noting that partnerships with professional institutions are essential to strengthening the state’s financial sector.

The governor said Lagos would continue to create an environment where financial institutions can operate effectively and support businesses and residents.

CIBN said it remains committed to initiatives that promote professional excellence, banking innovation, financial inclusion, and sustainable economic development in Nigeria.
