As Nigerians celebrate Christmas, President Bola Tinubu and several state governors called for peace, unity, and religious tolerance. In his message, Tinubu stressed that no one should suffer for their faith, highlighting the importance of love, compassion, and national cohesion. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting the rights of all citizens to live, worship, and pursue their aspirations safely.

Tinubu praised Christians for their contributions to national development and urged Nigerians to draw hope and resilience from the festive season. He also encouraged safe travel during the holidays.

State governors echoed similar sentiments. Delta’s Sheriff Oborevwori, Katsina’s Mallam Dikko Radda, Bayelsa’s Douye Diri, Adamawa’s Ahmadu Fintiri, Ondo’s Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and Sokoto’s Ahmed Aliyu all highlighted love, tolerance, and unity as foundations for peace and development.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), while extending festive greetings, warned against unfair taxation and urged the government to ensure workers’ inclusion in policy decisions. NLC President Joe Ajaero stressed that national progress depends on collective action, social justice, and the protection of citizens’ rights.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, religious leaders, and traditional rulers also called for unity, forgiveness, and national renewal.

Meanwhile, despite falling food prices in some states, many Nigerians continue to face economic challenges. Residents in Sokoto, Abia, and other regions reported that affordability remains an issue, limiting festive celebrations for numerous households, even as some staples became slightly cheaper in states like Adamawa and Edo.
