CHRISTIAN GENOCIDE: REGHA REVEALS WHY TRUMP CALLED NIGERIA A ‘DISGRACED COUNTRY’
Popular social media commentator, Daniel Regha, has weighed in on US President Donald Trump’s recent remarks describing Nigeria as a “disgraced country.”
Recall that Trump, in a statement on Saturday, warned that if the Nigerian government failed to tackle the alleged genocide against Christians, the United States would “immediately stop all aid and assistance” to Nigeria. He also hinted that America might “go into Nigeria to wipe out the terrorists” allegedly responsible for the religious persecution.
Reacting via his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, Regha suggested that Trump’s description was not far from reality, attributing Nigeria’s poor image to decades of bad leadership across all regions.
According to him, corruption exists in every part of the country, with leaders from all ethnic groups contributing to Nigeria’s decline.
“Nigeria is a ‘disgraced country’ today as a result of bad leadership from all regions. Corruption is found in every state and local government, and all ethnicities are involved,” Regha wrote.
He added that from Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, to Urhobo, and others, the problem remains the same—leaders failing to speak up and act responsibly.
Regha further criticized both federal and state administrations, saying that while past governments failed, President Bola Tinubu’s administration is also “failing” because regional leaders are not addressing local issues.
“State governments are equally acting nonchalantly by not solving regional problems, but instead playing politics. Before you shift the blame, remember that the State House of Assembly has your people in there, and State governance is by indigene,” he added.
Trump’s comments and Regha’s response have reignited public debate about governance, corruption, and religious conflict in Nigeria.
