CHOLERA OUTBREAK KILLS 13 IN ADAMAWA STATE
A cholera outbreak has claimed 13 lives in Mubi North and Mubi South Local Government Areas of Adamawa State.
The State Commissioner for Health, Chief Felix Tangwami, confirmed the development during a press briefing on Wednesday.
According to Tangwami, the outbreak was traced to contaminated drinking water in the affected communities. He revealed that 236 people had so far been infected, while 21 patients were still receiving treatment.
“A team of 50 health workers from the State Primary Health Care Development Agency and our case management team are currently on the ground handling the situation,” Tangwami stated.
The commissioner added that the state government had begun urgent interventions to curb the spread, including public health awareness campaigns and water purification efforts across the affected areas.
He urged residents to maintain proper hygiene, avoid drinking untreated water, and report any suspected cases of cholera to the nearest health facility for prompt medical attention.
