Yongxing Steel Company has donated a refurbished and fully furnished building to the Catholic Church-owned Charity Home for the Needy in Benin City, Edo State.

The facility was formally handed over to the church at the weekend after the company purchased and renovated the building to provide a suitable home for children and their caregivers.

A representative of the company, Hazel Han, said Yongxing became aware of the condition of the charity home through the Edo State Office of the First Lady. After visiting the facility, the company learned that the children had been asked to leave the rented property.

She said the company decided to provide a permanent alternative rather than offer only temporary assistance.

The new facility has been furnished and equipped with essential items, including furniture and a generator. The company said the building was handed over free of charge, with no rent attached.

The Principal of the Charity Home, Rev. Mother Mary Ebewu, expressed appreciation for the gesture, noting that the company had previously supported the home with food donations.

The Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Benin, Very Rev. Fr. Michael Oyanoafoh, commended the initiative and encouraged other individuals and companies to support vulnerable members of society through similar interventions.
