CHIEF IMAM OF UROMI FREED FROM KIDNAPPERS AFTER POLICE INTERVENTION
The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the release of Sheikh Moritada Obhakhoboh, the Chief Imam of Uromi, who was abducted on July 7.
In a statement issued Monday night, the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, revealed that the Imam regained his freedom after sustained pressure was mounted on the kidnappers. He was released without injury and has since reunited with his family.
According to Yamu, the police swung into action as soon as the abduction was reported to the Uromi Divisional Headquarters on July 8. Tactical teams, working alongside a local vigilance group, were deployed to track the abductors.
Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, praised the swift efforts of the operatives and assured the public that the investigation is ongoing to bring the culprits to justice.
“We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring those responsible are identified and apprehended,” he stated.
The public was also urged to remain alert and continue sharing useful information to support the fight against crime in the state.
