New Chelsea defender, Tosin Adarabioyo, has opened up about his Nigerian heritage, proudly revealing that his father hails from Lagos State while his mother is from Ekiti.

Although born in London and raised in Manchester, the 27-year-old centre-back said his Nigerian roots have always been part of his identity. In a recent interview with Arise News, Tosin shared plans to visit his mother’s hometown in Ekiti to learn more about her early life.

“My mum is from Ekiti. Our plan is to go there and look around where my mum was raised and lived,” he said. “My brother will know better than me, but my dad is from Lagos.”

Tosin also talked about his upbringing in Manchester, where he developed his football career and built a strong bond with Chelsea teammate Cole Palmer. The two were teammates in Manchester City’s academy and have now reunited at Chelsea.

“I was born in London but was raised in Manchester. Cole [Palmer] is also from Manchester; we both played in the Manchester City academy. We have a lot of friends in common,” he added.

Just days earlier, Tosin paid a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, showing his connection and commitment to his Nigerian background.

His story resonates with many young Nigerians in the diaspora who continue to maintain strong ties with their roots, culture, and heritage.

Fans are hopeful that with his deepening ties to Nigeria, Tosin may one day represent the Super Eagles on the international stage.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
