Ballon d’Or 2025: Chelsea Boss Enzo Maresca Nominated for Coach of the Year

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has been nominated for the prestigious Men’s Cruyff Trophy – Coach of the Year award, as part of the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony set to hold in September in Paris.

The Italian tactician earned the nomination after an outstanding 2024/25 season, guiding Chelsea to major successes. Under Maresca’s leadership, the Blues won both the UEFA Europa Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup, marking a remarkable turnaround for the club.

Maresca, who took over from Leicester City, also secured a 4th-place finish in the Premier League, earning Chelsea a return to the UEFA Champions League.

His nomination places him among some of Europe’s top coaching minds this season. Here are the full list of nominees:

Antonio Conte (Napoli)

Luis Enrique (Paris Saint-Germain)

Hansi Flick (Barcelona)

Enzo Maresca (Chelsea)

Arne Slot (Liverpool)

The winner of the award will be revealed during the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris — a night that celebrates the best talents and managers in world football.

Maresca’s quick impact at Stamford Bridge has not gone unnoticed, and this nomination could be the beginning of a new era of recognition for the Chelsea manager.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
