Chelsea Confirm Loan Moves for Sarr and Castledine Ahead of New Season

Chelsea Football Club has confirmed the loan transfers of Mamadou Sarr and Leo Castledine as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2025/26 season.

In an official statement released on Friday, the Blues revealed that Sarr, a 19-year-old French centre-back, will be heading back to Ligue 1 side Strasbourg on a season-long loan. The France U20 international joined Chelsea from Strasbourg earlier this summer and featured in the club’s squad during their victorious 2025 FIFA Club World Cup campaign. He made his debut during Chelsea’s win over ES Tunis and was named in every match-day squad during the tournament.

Meanwhile, Castledine, another highly rated Chelsea youngster, will spend the season on loan with Huddersfield Town. The 19-year-old midfielder has been with Chelsea since the Under-15s and made his senior debut in a League Cup semi-final win against Middlesbrough in January 2024. This marks his second loan move, following a short spell at Huddersfield at the end of last season.

The loan deals are part of Chelsea’s continued strategy to develop young talent through regular first-team football elsewhere. Both players will be looking to gain valuable experience before returning to Stamford Bridge.

These moves follow recent announcements regarding other rising stars Jesse Derry and Kendry Paez, as Chelsea continues to shape its squad for the future.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
