Chelsea midfielder Morgan Rogers says the club is targeting a place at the top of the Premier League as they prepare to begin the 2026/27 season against Fulham today at 8:00pm Nigerian Time.

The Blues will travel to Craven Cottage for their opening fixture, which will also be Xabi Alonso’s first competitive match as Chelsea manager. Rogers and several other new signings are expected to be involved as the club begins a new chapter under the former Bayer Leverkusen boss.

Rogers said Chelsea must meet the expectations of their supporters by competing with every team and challenging at the top of the table. He acknowledged that the new-look squad would need time to adapt to Alonso’s methods but insisted that the team was determined to make a strong start.

The former Aston Villa player said the presence of several new managers across the Premier League, including at Manchester City and Liverpool, had created uncertainty ahead of the new campaign. He added that Chelsea’s ambition was to be part of the excitement at the top of the table.

Rogers also revealed that he had been working to build relationships with his new teammates and understand Alonso’s expectations. He said Chelsea would need the right mentality and focus throughout the season to achieve their goals.
