CHELSEA FINED £25,000 BY FA AHEAD OF BRIGHTON CLASH
Chelsea have been fined £25,000 by the Football Association (FA) for failing to control their players during last weekend’s Premier League clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The Blues picked up six yellow cards in the 2-1 defeat, along with a straight red card for goalkeeper Robert Sanchez just five minutes into the game. Marc Cucurella, Trevoh Chalobah, Enzo Fernandez, Tosin Adarabioyo and Tyrique George were all booked during the heated contest.
United also went down to 10 men when Casemiro received a second yellow card before halftime, but Chelsea’s overall disciplinary record left them in hot water with the FA.
This latest punishment continues a worrying trend for the west London club. They were previously fined £25,000 for eight yellow cards against Bournemouth in September 2024, £50,000 for six bookings against Nottingham Forest in October, and £75,000 later that month for another six bookings against Newcastle.
In their last five games, Chelsea have collected 12 yellow cards and one red card. Despite this, they are not the worst offenders this season—Bournemouth (14), Crystal Palace (13), Everton (13) and Brighton (13) have all picked up more bookings.
Still, Chelsea have finished the last two Premier League campaigns as the club with the most yellow cards, a statistic that continues to underline their growing disciplinary problems under Enzo Maresca.
