Veteran entertainer and activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has taken a swipe at activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju over his recent allegations against former presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Adeyanju had claimed that during the 2023 presidential election campaign, Obi invited him for a discussion and allegedly attempted to bribe him with money in a brown envelope — an offer he rejected.

Reacting to the claim, Charly Boy dismissed it as false and accused Adeyanju of chasing clout and working for political paymasters.

In a fiery post shared on X, Charly Boy defended Obi’s integrity, warning Adeyanju not to drag the Labour Party candidate “into the gutters.”

He wrote in Pidgin:

“Deji Adeyanju, na wa for you o! Na so so lie lie and yeye talk you dey yarn about Peter Obi, just to trend and please ya paymasters. Obi na man wey still get small conscience for this obodo wey don spoil finish. Na him dey give millions of Nigerians hope. But you wey suppose dey stand for truth, you turn yourself to errand boy for chop money politics.”

Charly Boy went further to liken Adeyanju to someone who could sell himself for “30 pieces of silver,” adding that his reckless comments could land him in legal trouble.

“Area Fada,” as Charly Boy is fondly called, stressed that Obi remains one of the few political figures still giving Nigerians hope for a better country, and vowed not to allow anyone to tarnish his image.
