CHARLES III TO ADDRESS US CONGRESS ON STATE VISIT
King Charles III is set to deliver a historic address to the United States Congress during his upcoming state visit, marking his first trip to the US as monarch.
According to Buckingham Palace, the four-day visit beginning April 27 will highlight the shared history and strong ties between the United Kingdom and the United States.
The King will be accompanied by Camilla and is expected to address lawmakers from both chambers of Congress, becoming the first British monarch to do so since Elizabeth II in 1991.
During the visit, Charles will also meet US President Donald Trump, attend a state dinner, and participate in a military review in Washington.
The trip will extend to New York and Virginia, where the royal couple will engage with community groups, first responders, and business leaders, as well as attend events marking historical and cultural connections between the two nations.
Despite political tensions and calls from some UK politicians to delay the visit, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer affirmed that the trip would proceed, emphasising the enduring diplomatic role of the monarchy.
