CENTRE FOR CHANGE, LABOUR UNION MOURN NLC SCRIBE UGBOAJA

The Centre for Change and a labour union have expressed grief over the death of the Nigeria Labour Congress General Secretary, Emmanuel Ugboaja.

The organisations described Ugboaja as a committed labour leader who contributed significantly to workers’ rights and the development of the labour movement in Nigeria.

In separate statements, they commended his dedication to improving the welfare of Nigerian workers and his role in representing labour interests on national issues.

The Centre for Change said Ugboaja’s contributions to the labour movement would remain significant, particularly his efforts to promote fairness, social justice and better working conditions.

The union also described his death as a major loss to organised labour, noting that he played an important role in advancing workers’ interests and engaging government and other stakeholders on issues affecting employees.

Tributes have continued to emerge from labour groups, civil society organisations and other stakeholders following the news of his death.

The organisations extended their condolences to Ugboaja’s family, colleagues and members of the Nigeria Labour Congress, urging them to find strength during the difficult period.

Ugboaja’s death comes at a time when organised labour continues to engage the Federal Government and other stakeholders on issues including workers’ welfare, wages, economic policies and the rising cost of living.

The groups said his legacy of service and commitment to workers’ rights would continue to be remembered within the labour movement.
