CCTV VIDEO SPARKS OUTRAGE AS STANLEY ONTOP DEMANDS PEGGY OVIRE’S ARREST FOR ALLEGED ASSAULT ON ACTOR TAYE ARIMORO
Nollywood has been thrown into fresh controversy after popular actor Stanley Ontop publicly called for the arrest of actress and filmmaker Peggy Ovire following the emergence of a CCTV video showing an alleged assault on fellow actor, Taye Arimoro.
The incident, which has since gone viral, reportedly occurred on a movie set, leading to heated reactions across the entertainment industry and social media.
Earlier reports confirmed that CCTV footage captured Peggy Ovire and members of her crew confronting and allegedly assaulting Taye Arimoro. Peggy had initially denied the accusation, claiming instead that Arimoro attacked her driver during a disagreement.
However, the video evidence, now widely shared online, appears to contradict her claims.
Reacting to the development, Stanley Ontop took to Instagram on Thursday to demand immediate action from law enforcement authorities. Tagging the Nigeria Police Force in his post, he condemned the assault and insisted that no actor should be subjected to such treatment.
“No actor should be bullied,” Stanley wrote.
He further explained that the altercation began when Arimoro refused to continue filming past midnight, citing that his contract with Peggy Ovire had already expired. Instead of renegotiating or requesting an extension, Stanley alleged that Peggy and her driver descended on the actor, leaving him with injuries.
“Peggy should be in police custody as we speak for a clear case of assault,” he added, calling on the Lagos State Police Command to promptly intervene.
He also noted that the CCTV footage clearly showed Peggy and her crew surrounding Taye’s vehicle in what appeared to be an attempt to attack him.
As public pressure mounts, many Nigerians are calling for transparency, proper investigation, and accountability from both industry stakeholders and law enforcement.
The Nigeria Police Force has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
